The National Art Gallery

The National Gallery of Ireland (Irish: Gailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann) houses the Irish national collection of Irish and European art. It is located in the centre of Dublin with one entrance on Merrion Square, beside Leinster House, and another on Clare Street. Due to ongoing renovations, the Clare Street entrance is the only one currently open. It was founded in 1854 and opened its doors ten years later. The Gallery has an extensive, representative collection of Irish painting and is also notable for its Italian Baroque and Dutch masters painting. The current director of the gallery is Sean Rainbird. Entry to the gallery is free.

Viking Splash Tours

Viking Splash Tours is a city tour with a difference! The mode of transport is an amphibious World War II landing craft, allowing you to view the city from both land and water. Irreverent costumed Viking tour guides will lead you through the streets of Dublin, teaching you to roar like Vikings at passers by! Sights along the way include Dublin's two famous City Cathedrals, Saint Patrick's and Christchurch, Viking Dublin, Trinity College, Government Buildings (Leinster House) and Georgian Dublin. The highlight of the tour is the ‘Splashdown' into the water at the newly developed Grand Canal Dock. During the trip on the water you will see the recording studios of famous Dublin rock band U2. The Viking Splash is suitable for all, adults and children alike. It departs from St Stephens Green daily.
